CATHY SEARS ELECTED TO LACF BOARDCATHY SEARS ELECTED TO LACF BOARD

The president of the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation (LACF), Cecelia Paine, FCSLA, OALA, is pleased to announce that Cathy Sears, FCSLA, AALA, has been elected to serve a three-year term as a member of its Board of Directors. Sears is currently vice president and practice leader for landscape architecture with Stantec.  Over the past twenty years she has been actively involved with major professional initiatives and programs and most recently served as president of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. As an LACF Board member, Sears stated, "I welcome the opportunity to continue building and strengthening our profession. My primary interest in serving on the Foundation Board is to increase support for research, communication and scholarship activities that further the ideals and profile of landscape architecture in Canada.

Over the past twenty-five years, LACF has provided funding support for more than 80 projects.  These funds have come from the donations of members of the CSLA College of Fellows, CSLA component associations, and special bequests. November 19, 2010 is the deadline for applications in the next round of LACF awards.  Grant application information can be found at http://www.lacf.ca/
